Your Bio

Hello! I am a housewife and mother of four children - girls 10 & 15 and boys 11 & 12. I am always trying to learn photography and understand my camera better. I have been reading a lot more lately and have finally found a few staight forward photo books that are starting to give me some clues....
I live near Springfield, Oregon. If you really need to know ALL about me - myspace.com/erinortmann about covers it!
Please comment and/or critique photos to help me continue the above mentioned learning process. THANKS!!

I have had some luck lately with my images being used. I have a piece in several rooms at the Three Rivers Casino Hotel near Florence, Oregon. The Eugene Airport currently has a slideshow image in their main lobby that includes one of my favorite photos of my son Rhett, looking out from the Bohemian Saddle. Alaska Horizon Air has one of my images with photo credit given on their website -http://alaskaair.convertlanguage.com/alaskaair/enes/24/_www_alaskaair_com/Destinations/CityGuides.aspx?city=EUG&how=airportguide

Babies : When I was at Cub Scout Day Camp with my boys, I met the cutest baby and her incredible mom. I am sure they were sick to death of us snapping photos and going on about how cute Shelby was, but....she really was, see? I like taking pictures of babies. Taking photos of my kids when they were little is what got me really into photography. It's been a while since I have been around any little, little ones. I am going to have to make an effort to find some more, or at least bother Shelby to take more of her...

Portraits : When I first started taking photos it was mostly "people" shots. Over the last several years I have leaned more towards landscape/travel images. It can be really difficult to know if a person likes their photos or not so that makes portraits a little stressful. I have decided recently thought that I needed to start practicing and improving my portrait ability. All of these images have been taken in the last year, most of them in the last couple of months. Everyone here is either a family member or close friend.
One problem that I have is that I don't know the whole art of "posing" people yet. It is MUCH more simple to get good shots when all you have to worry about is your camera and the light - people who like to pose themselves, like my often pictured oldest daughter, are easier.
Please take time to comment and help me learn a little faster.
